Petey
Griffith’s Our Gang’s Petey is our on-site stud. He is a very proportionate
white Toy Poodle. Petey weighs in at about 7 lbs. Petey is AKC and
CKC registered, and comes from both American and Canadian Champion
lines. He has his OFA heart and CERF eye clearances. When I made the
decision to retire my previous stud, I talked to Toy Poodle breeders with
show lines. I made a list of what I was looking for, and started my Toy
Poodle search. Petey was exactly what I was looking for. He is “square”
which means his leg length is proportionate with his body size. The
puppies that he has sired for us are also very proportionate. Petey is “ice white”,
and when bred to my Golden Retrievers, he produces light cream to honey
color coats. He has not been bred to one of our Labs yet, but it will be fun to
see the colors that we get with those breedings.
The thing that impresses me the most about Petey is his personality. I did not
realize that you could get so much personality in such a little package. I can
not look at his little face without smiling! He can romp and play like a puppy
one minute,and then curl into your arms to snuggle the next. He would allow
me to hold him like a baby and cuddle for hours if I could. He loves playing with
the other dogs, and is affectionate to every member of our family. He follows me
from room to room around the house. He tries to anticipate which direction I am
going and beat me into whatever room I am entering. He then greets me with a
big “doggy smile” on his face and his tail proudly wagging J. We have a joke
in our family that we all wish we could “wake up like Petey”. From the moment
he gets out of bed, he is just so excited and happy to be alive. Unfortunately, we
are not morning people, and don’t greet the day with the same enthusiasm that
Petey does. Petey has brought a lot of love and fun into our home. He is also an
amazing part of our breeding program and treasured for both reasons.
