Current Puppies

We are proud to announce the arrival of our first litter ever of  CKC F1 Miniature Labradoodles.

Our beautiful Chocolate Lab “Griffith’s Emerald City” (Emme) gave birth to 11 puppies on 01/08/10.

We have 5 girls and 6 boys.  This litter was sired by our offsite stud Cody.  Cody is a very small

white Toy Poodle with over 30 champions in his 5 generation pedigree.  Their birth size was very

comparable to our past Miniature Goldendoodles.  I am expecting adult weights similar to the adult

weights of our past Goldendoodle puppies.  The majority of these puppies should mature to the

20 – 30 lb range.  Some of the males may mature a little larger.  Emme is our largest Retriever,

but even taking this into consideration, I don’t think any of the puppies will mature to over 40 lbs.

Because of the genetics involved, size is something that I cannot guarantee though.

All of the puppies were born a very dark brown/light black in color.  A few have some small

white markings on them.  We have one little boy nicknamed Twister who has white mittens

on both of his front paws (very cute).  I had anticipated all chocolates.  Even though

chocolate is a recessive gene, Emme’s line has been refined to the point where only chocolates

are being produced.   The adult coat color of these puppies has been a matter of great discussion

and research among the Griffith family.  From what I have been reading, a Labradoodle coat can

change color up to 18 months of age.  This is because of the Poodle part of the genetics.  If it is

going to change color, most will get lighter.  They will be stunning no matter what color their

adult coats are though.  Emme has an extremely large and blocky head.  I can already tell that

these puppies have nice little round heads that should take more after the Retriever and not the

Poodle.  They are nicely proportioned and well socialized.  Puppies have already had their

dewclaws removed.  They will go home vet checked, up to date on immunizations and dewormed

several times.  They will also go home with a gift bag that includes a Snuggle Puppie, training book

and sample of Nature’s Select puppy food.

At least 4 of these puppies have been reserved as of 02/16/10.   Ruby, Dorothy, Twister and Zeke

all have new homes now.  We have several youtube videos of the puppies online now.  The latest

feature individual clips of each puppy working on basic commands at just shy of 5 weeks of age.

They are not always consistent, but enjoy the individual attention and try hard to please.  We have

found that working on basic commands is a great way to spend quality time with each puppy. If the

snow ever leaves Ohio, we will begin potty training.  Right now there is about 5 feet of snow in

my back yard.  We have starting getting them familiar with a crate, and will work on that more as

they get older.  Below are the links to all of their youtube videos.  These cuties have a go home date of

03/05/10.
